Peter Curtis is the founder and Managing Director of North East Sport, a Community Interest Company based in Sunderland dedicated to improving lives through sport, physical activity, and community engagement.
Peter has worked since the age of 15, serving in the Merchant Navy before building a successful career managing multi-million-pound construction projects throughout the country, working his way up to Site Foreman. This grounding in real-world leadership, hard work, and accountability shapes everything he does.
With over 15 years of hands-on leadership at North East Sport, Peter has grown the organisation from a grassroots football club into a wide-reaching body delivering coaching, school programmes, and holiday activities for hundreds of young people across the city. He leads the Fulwell Rangers project and founded Friends of Fulwell, a local charity established to strengthen community spirit, improve local environments, and encourage volunteering.
Peter brings a unique combination of lived experience, practical leadership, and deep community roots to this committee.
