Get ready for two days of adrenaline-fuelled activities, awesome art projects, super street dance, professional performances and more!

Urban Fest is the place to be on 2 & 3 August at Sunniside Gardens!

Join us from 11 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 5 PM on Sunday.

This event is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

All are welcome to join the fun from 3 PM to 6 PM, there will be games, food & drinks offers, music and more…

From 6 PM it’s time to say goodnight to the little ones as our 18+ afterparty kicks off. Brink a special token from Urban Fest to Spacebar for a free drink, enjoy drinks deals and special menus.

The Rap Showcase is open to all abilities and begins at 7:30 PM – REGISTER HERE!

Spacebar has over 70 classic arcades machines, 4 pinball tables, next-gen console booths, and full-sized air hockey tables. The venue blends retro gaming with a modern vibe, all backed by a fully stocked bar and great music! See you there…

Keeping you fuelled up all weekend will be local Greek street food traders Acropolis, Sheepfolds favourites Deep North Doughnuts and African street food superstars Musafari Grills.

Sunniside business, Diego’s Joint will be open across both days.

Another Sunniside favourite, Angelo’s Ristorante, will be serving up authentic Italian dishes.

Redbull will be back for all you over-18s looking for a caffiene boost!

Manor Bar are serving drinks at their outside bar in the sunshine.

    • King Ramps Skateboarder

      King
      Ramps

      A team of professional skateboarders & BMXers who will be performing demonstrations on the skate ramps and providing awe inspiring adrenaline fuelled shows throughout the day. The team will also have their coaches on hand delivering skateboard workshops to get everyone onboard and having a great day.

      After initially running as a section of Silksworth CA for a number of years by volunteers, Youth Almighty Project (YAP) was set up in 2008 by Joanne and Andy Laverick along with Phil Tye to meet the demanding needs of the children and young people through providing them with somewhere safe to go and something to do, keeping them from hanging around the streets. In 2010 YAP became a charity.

      Override Indoor Skatepark is an inclusive, friendly and welcoming space where you can join in with other riders, to practice and improve your skills.  They will be bringing their best Scooter & BMX riders to perform some incredible tricks for us!

      BIKE STUNTS

      This adrenaline fuelled show combines trials displays with BMX for the ultimate display of skills and thrills.

      LovesSharpies

      A local, lifelong board sports enthusiast who draws a lot of inspiration from the classic surf and skate brands and artists of the 80s and 90s.

    • Grimesz

      Mural painter, illustrator, educator, and place-making practitioner based in the North East. His work blends raw street visuals with community energy—exploring subcultures, bold characters, and vibrant chaos. He creates across walls, clothing, upcycled objects, and used spray cans—giving new life to everything he touches. He’s featured in TART Magazine, exhibited across the region, and worked with The Werd, Pineapple Black,, and The Expanded Metal Company on a string of exciting projects.

    • CREATIVE
      BABES CLUB

      Creative Babes Club is a community that gives space for your creative wellbeing, your creative ideas and to grow your creative circles. Alice, founder of the ‘club and a once *overwhelmingly* burnout and anxious creative, knows how uncreative we can feel… and how as life is life-ing, and our to-do list gets longer… our creativity can take a back seat. Through ‘creative networking’, cup-filling workshops and community events, Creative Babes Club are creating spaces and opportunities for North East ‘creative babes’ to nurture their creative wellbeing. With creatives who get. it.

    • DJ
      A.D.S

      DJ A.D.S is a versatile producer who can create classic boom bap while embracing new sounds and trends, creating rich soulful soundscapes, quirky/funky beats and much more. A.D.S is experienced working with many styles of music and recording various artists including Grime/Rave Mcs, Singers and musicians. A.D.S has pretty much collaborated with everyone in the local scene.

    • Forriner

      Forriner (Lee) was also responsible for the infamous Newcastle based party, Dada which he ran alongside Geoff “Man Power” Kirkwood and Mick Rolfe (all of Last Waltz) who brought diverse guest Dj’s to the city such as…Andrew Weatherall, Optimo, Chida, Kento, Felix Dickinson and I-F to name a handful. The trio have played clubs, festivals and parties far and wide from Tel Aviv, Berlin, Lithuania and Croatia. Lee  also held down a residency at Tokyo in Newcastle for over 15 Years and has been pivotal to the scene in the north east from way, way back with involvement in other club based projects such as, Reverb, Method Lounge, Hipcheck and Hold It Down.

      Street, Hip Hop, Afro-house, Jazz, Contemporary, Traditional African and Kalinda dancer Sphyfro is here to teach you some moves, no matter your experience (or lack of!)
