SUNDERLAND BID is hoping that families will hop on over for some Easter fun and enjoy a special, augmented spring reality trail.
Following the success of the two previous trails which ran at Halloween and Christmas, the BID is unveiling seven new characters that can be captured via the Sunderland Experience app.
And that means people of all ages can look out for everything from lambs and chicks to ducks and bunnies while out and about in the city centre.
Along with offering a great activity for adults and children, there is an additional incentive – with a whole host of special offers available from many of the city’s local businesses.
Retailers including Beauty HQ, Thoburns Fresh Produce, Ibbitson’s Butchers, Bou-chique, Harrison and Brown, Flowers By Jennifer, Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Pop’s Candy and The Sweet Petite are all supporting the initiative with a number of exclusive deals.
The trail will be launched via the app on 29 March and run until 30 April, giving people plenty of opportunity to find all seven characters and bring them to life on the app.
Sharon Appleby, Head of Business Operations at Sunderland BID, said the decision to have a new trail followed the success of the previous two.
“At a time when so many activities have been limited, it’s great to be able to offer families something to do which takes place outside,” she said.
“It means that people can still remain socially distanced but have some much-needed fun at the same time.
“Hopefully, with the weather also improving massively, this will be something that families can do together over the Easter period.”
The trail can only be accessed by downloading the free Sunderland Experience app.
Anyone who has previously installed the app will be able to use it again for the duration of the trail.
Additional information and updates will also be available via the Sunderland Experience It Here Facebook page or take a look HERE.
