SUNDERLAND SHOWS ITS PASSION FOR FASHION…

03 May 2018

FASHION conscious Sunderland people have shown they are model shoppers, after snapping up clothes they spotted on the catwalk.

The Bridges annual Fashion Weekend saw daily fashion shows take place last week (April 26- 29).

And happy retailers who took part in the event have reported that many of the items worn by the models were sold out after being part of the catwalk shows.

Andy Bradley, centre director at the Bridges, said shoppers had flocked to the centre to watch the shows.

“Our fashion weekend has become an important event on the calendar and we were delighted that so many people turned up to watch or took a break from shopping to see some of the amazing clothes we have at the Bridges,” he said.

“Many of the retailers had an absolutely fantastic response and sold out of many of their clothes – in fact we had to change some of the items being worn on the catwalk over the weekend because they were no longer available.”

Stores including Next, Select, New Look and Roman reported a boost in sales of the items which featured in the shows, which took place on a specially erected catwalk in Central Square.

“The event just keeps getting bigger and better every year and we are delighted that we’ve had such a positive response,” said Andy.
