SUNDERLAND’S Next store has now completed its expansion, with the opening of its new homewares department..
The company took over the vacant unit beside its existing store at the Bridges, increasing the store size from 10,221 sq ft to 14,710 sq ft, and launched in July with a large, ground level childrenswear section.
And now shoppers will also be able to enjoy the store’s latest addition – an extended homewares section on the upper level which opened for the first time yesterday (29 August).
The leading retailer confirmed earlier this year its plan for a larger presence in Sunderland, providing a major boost to the city centre.
Homewares has always been an extremely popular part of Next’s offering, with a huge range of accessories including wall art, mirrors and vases.
And the hope is the larger, dedicated section in the Bridges’ shop will attract even more shoppers to the store.
Duncan Allen, Building and Services Director at the Bridges said the first stage of the expansion had been well received and was sure the second phrase would be equally as popular.
“The new childrenswear department has attracted a whole host of shoppers,” he said.
“And we know how much people love Next’s home décor items so we can’t wait for everyone to see all the fantastic items on offer.”
