Sunderland Live launches Festive Films event

Sunderland Live have announced the first ever Festive Films event which will  take place on Friday 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December.  Nestled amongst the sparkling white lights of Mowbray Park and under the cover of a heated outdoor cinema, guests will be invited to enjoy a range of yuletide film favourites.

There is however, something of a Christmas surprise. Whilst all festive tastes have been catered for, the film titles themselves are a closely guarded secret, filed deep within the vaults of Sunderland Live headquarters.

Whether you’re looking for a special Guardian Angel, a blue, crook nosed Charles Dickens, your own 6ft 3inch Christmas ‘Buddy’ or you just want to re-live a journey on the most famous of Christmas trains; the film selection has everything you will need to ignite those festive feelings the weekend before the big day. Evening film goers will enjoy a pre-film complimentary serving of mulled wine and mince pies whilst toe tapping to some fantastic live music. Tickets to Sunday’s day time screenings include a visit to Santa’s grotto and a free Christmas gift.

On Saturday, things take a frosty turn as the full day is dedicated to a double screening of a fantastically popular animated tale of sisterly love, an ice queen and an incredibly loveable snowman. So why not say ‘let it go’ to those last minute Christmas errands and treat yourself to an afternoon of musical sing-a-long fun along with a meet and greet from the characters themselves.

Jessica Regnart, Creative Development Manager at Sunderland Live said: ‘We’re thrilled to be able to bring a brand new event to the Christmas in Sunderland calendar this year.

The mystery element of Festive Films really adds to the fun and Mowbray Park is the perfect setting to relax and absorb the Christmas atmosphere just before the big day”

Tickets for the event are now on sale and further information on Festive Films and the whole Christmas in Sunderland programme can be found by visiting www.sunderlandlive.co.uk
