Sun FM Christmas Toy Appeal

20 November 2019

This Monday (18th November 2019) Sunderland’s local radio station, Sun FM, is launching it’s annual ‘Christmas Toy Appeal’.

With the support, help and logistics from the Salvation Army on Wearside, the aim, once again, is to try to make sure that each and every child receives at least one gift to open on Christmas morning.

If you’re able to buy one extra gift this year, which doesn’t need wrapping, please drop it off at the radio station’s reception on the Sunderland Enterprise Park or one of Sun FM’s charity partners (pictured with Sun FM Breakfast Show hosts Simon & Lauren and Santa from Seaburn Rotary Club) this year; Bridges Shopping Centre, Smyths Toys or Caterpillar in Peterlee.

Sun FM’s Simon Grundy said, “Every year the generosity of local people amazes me. There’s a constant stream of people wanting to donate. Last year a staggering £80,000 worth of gifts and toys were donated.”

Julie Judson ‘Child & Family Coordinator’ at the Salvation Army said, “To hand gifts to a family who might be struggling, and to see the tears in their eyes on the doorstep, is priceless. It’s hard to believe that in this day and age, some families are so desperate they need our food bank, with toys for the bairns way down their list of priorities, so it’s great that Sun FM do this every year”.
