North East businesses are being encouraged to tap into the region’s brightest emerging talent in the run-up to Christmas, to create content that will sparkle this festive season.
Sunderland Creatives Agency, a partnership between the University of Sunderland and creative marketing agency Creo Comms, is calling on businesses across the region to think differently about how they bring Christmas to life this year.
Through the agency, businesses can commission talented student designers, illustrators, animators and other creatives to develop original festive work, supporting with everything from eye-catching window displays and charming signage to creative social media content and decorations. Businesses are being offered the chance to stand out this Christmas while providing students with valuable, paid experience of working on real projects with real businesses.
Students can support local businesses with bespoke materials including Christmas cards, window vinyls and social media videos and graphics. And in the process, businesses will be giving the gift of paid work experience to students looking to break into the creative industries.
Sunderland Creatives Agency connects businesses with the creative talents coming through the University of Sunderland, enabling students to develop their portfolio while helping businesses access fresh ideas and creative expertise.
Laura Smith from Creo Comms helps oversee Sunderland Creatives Agency projects. She said: “Christmas is a great opportunity for businesses to have a bit of fun with their branding and create something that really catches people’s attention.
“It is also a fantastic opportunity for businesses with a high street presence to really get involved in the celebrations and help make their communities more vibrant.
“By working with our students, businesses can inject fresh ideas into their marketing and displays, while giving young creatives valuable experience of working with real clients. It’s a win-win and something we’d love to see more businesses take advantage of.”
Lee Hall, Head of the School of Media & Creative Industries at the University of Sunderland, said: “Opportunities like this are a fantastic way for our students to take the skills they develop at university and apply them to real-world projects.
“Working directly with businesses gives them a valuable opportunity to build their experience, confidence and portfolio of work, while showing businesses the wealth of creative talent we have here in the North East.”
