PANTO STARS LAUNCH FESTIVE CITY TRAIL

15 November 2017

FE, FI, FO, FUM, the countdown to Christmas fun has begun and the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk got moo’ving around the city to launch a new themed festive trail with the Sunderland Business Improvement District (BID).

This festive season, Sunderland BID are working in collaboration with Sunderland Empire and are inviting families to take part in a special mission to help pantomime hero Jack search for his missing cows! The free Jack and the Beanstalk themed trail will run across Sunderland city centre from 4 December 2017 - 7 January 2018.

Families can simply follow the map through key areas of Sunderland city centre, discovering new businesses and special offers as you search for the hidden cows. Each cow will be attached with a clue or special letter that will help lead you to spell out a mystery word. Once the trail has been completed and the puzzle solved, families can take the map to Sunderland’s real, open air ice rink on Keel Square and a treat may be waiting!

Entry to the trail is free and maps are available within the latest edition of Vibe Magazine or can be collected from Sunderland Empire Box Office (during usual opening hours) or from the Customer Services Counter at the Bridges Shopping Centre from Monday 4 December.

Natalie Dellow, marketing and communications officer at Sunderland Business Improvement District, is delighted to see some festive panto fun spread across the city centre and said:

“We hope this special trail will get families venturing out into new areas of the city centre and discovering new businesses, whilst enjoying the fun of Sunderland Empire’s fantastic pantomime.”

Families are urged to take advantage of this free trail linked to the arrival of this year’s magical pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk which is set to scale great heights this year! So get ready to GO!GO!GO! with Nick Jr’s Jade Natalie as ‘Princess Jill’, TV legend Janine Duvitski, swaps Benidorm for Sunderland as the delightful Vegetable Fairy, Bill Ward (Emmerdale and Coronation Street) takes on the villainous role of the giant’s henchman, Fleshcreep alongside the devilishly delightful, Phillip Meeks as Dame Trott, and Legally Blonde the Musical’s, David Barrett joins us as our fairy-tale hero Jack, with Charlie Guest as Simple Simon.

With stunning costumes and sets, hilarious song and dance routines, plus more jokes than a bag full of magic beans, let’s hope our hero Jack lives happily ever after with the beautiful princess – or will a beastly giant stop him in his tracks? With a host of crazy characters, this is one madcap adventure your family won’t want to miss!

Jack and the Beanstalk is set to be another spectacular panto that promises to add a fairy tale touch to your festive season and opens at Sunderland Empire from Friday 15 December 2017 – Sunday 7 January 2018 with a Relaxed performance on Wednesday 27 December at 5pm.

Family offer: Family 3+ £21pp Band A and £18pp Band B, must include at least one child in group (all performances until Friday 22 December 10.15am, and Tuesday 2 – Sunday 7 January).
