SUNDERLAND PRIDE COMES
TO THE BRIDGES

01 June 2026

In partnership with OUT North East, the Bridges shopping centre is bringing Pride to the heart of Sunderland this June, hosting a free, family-friendly celebration in the city centre.

On Saturday 6 June 2026, the Bridges will celebrate Sunderland Pride in Central Square in a day filled with colour, creativity and community spirit.

The event is open to everyone with no booking required, no entry charge and a full day of activities for all ages.

Families can unleash their creativity at arts and crafts stations and create Pride-themed masterpieces to take home. And add some sparkle with free face painting and dress-up fun, helping everyone shine and show their pride.
There will also be a variety of stalls featuring local organisations, community groups and independent businesses. Plus, the Makers Market will be back on Crowtree Mall, showcasing the best of local talent, from handmade jewellery and artwork to delicious food and unique gifts.

Karen Eve, Centre Director at the Bridges, said Pride at the Bridges had become one of the highlights of the centre’s events calendar.

“Pride at the Bridges is a day for everyone to come together, celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community and have fun,” she said. “We’re incredibly proud to be partnering with OUT North East again this year. Central Square is going to look spectacular, come down, bring the family and be part of it.”

Pride at the Bridges is one of the flagship celebrations of OUT North East’s month-long Summer of Pride, the largest programme the charity has ever delivered. For the first time, celebrations are being combined across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead into a single connected festival throughout June, with a programme that includes concerts, film screenings, sporting events, community workshops and more.
