GHOSTS, ghouls and spooky fun heads to Sunderland next week as the countdown begins to the scariest night of the year.
To coincide with the half term holiday, staff at the Bridges shopping centre are gearing up for a week of Halloween fun.
From Monday 22 October, the centre will host a range of different fun events and activities. This will kick off with the launch of an exciting competition via the centre’s Facebook page, giving shoppers the chance to win a Halloween hamper from Flying Tiger.
On Tuesday, the centre will host a Horrible Histories day in conjunction with the Empire Theatre with a mummy wrap challenge.
Ahead of Awful Egyptians, which is heading to the theatre in November, families will get the chance to take part in a timed mannequin bandage wrap, with the winners receiving a family ticket to the show.
On Wednesday, shoppers are invited to don their best Halloween fancy dress for a spooky fun event in the mall.
The day will include witches storytelling and an exciting craft zone where children can make their own spider pompoms, ceramic sugar candy skulls and keepsake spell books. This will run from 11am to 3pm at Central Park and admission is free.
Other activities throughout the week will include photo opportunities with Egyptian mummies and the chance to meet spooky characters.
“Everyone loves Halloween and we wanted to celebrate half term with a week of exciting activities for all of the family,” said Bridges marketing and communications manager, Samantha Czwordon-Auld.
“We are thrilled to have the support of the Empire Theatre and other local businesses who are coming together to help create these fun experiences for children of all ages.
“Halloween may be the spookiest night of the year but there’s nothing scary about our events. We look forward to welcoming our young visitors and hope people will get into the spirit and join the fun.”
