A POPULAR children’s TV duo will be skating into Sunderland to help the city celebrate Christmas.
As part of Sunderland’s special festive plans Josh and Ellie, the ice skating duo from the hit CBBC documentary series Ice Stars, will be showing off their skills at the outdoor ice rink, which is being erected at Keel Square.
The pair will perform at the Gala Ice Extravaganza taking place on November 26 to launch the city’s Christmas Frost Village, along with Dancing on Ice stars, Andrei Lipanov and Susie Lipanova.
The Frost Village is being created by Sunderland Business Improvement District and will include a Christmas market with around 25 stalls, with a traditional funfair also being installed on the former Vaux site.
“We’re delighted to announce that Josh and Ellie will be joining our Dancing on Ice Stars for the Gala Ice Extravaganza,” said Ken Dunbar, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID.
“We know they are really popular characters on TV and this is a great opportunity for their young fans to come down and see them perform live.”
The ice rink will offer daily skating sessions and is available for private hire for Christmas parties and other activities.
There will also be a full programme of activities, including the chance to learn to skate with the Dancing on Ice Stars on November 29 and December 6, 13 and 20 and the Frosty Inferno – Ice Disco on numerous dates in the run up to Christmas Eve.
Sunderland’s Frost Village will be open daily until 4pm on Christmas Eve and skating on this day must be booked in advance. Prices for skating starts from £6.50 per child and £7.50 per adult. Full activity listings and opening times are available at www.sunderlandchristmas.co.uk.
