Bonded Warehouse Sunderland opening soon!

12 January 2018

Bonded Warehouse, a brand new, alternative, destination venue in Sunderland’s city centre is set to open its doors to the public at the end of this month.

With its extensive restoration project reaching completion, the historic 19th century warehouse on the Fish Quay, Low Street is lined up to be a great new addition to the cities food, drink and music scene.

The unique multi-functional space will consist of two levels, a ground floor tank beer focussed Tap House, and the stunning upstairs warehouse, with its exposed brickwork, original beams and carefully restored original features, becoming the hub for weddings, events and gigs.

With a promise to bring live music, craft beers and great food all to one venue, Michael Phillips the owner and hands on Managing Director said, “We’re starting as we mean to go on, as our opening weekend will also coincide with our first Bonded Sessions, a Friday/Saturday monthly event providing an opportunity for people to socialise all day into the early hours, with an extensive live music line-up, vast selection of craft beers, a pop up gin bar and an array of the best street food in the North East”.

With January’s line up having just been announced, you can expect two stages of live music including a wide range of different artists, including local lads the Baghdaddies headlining Friday, coming to a head on Saturday evening with local soul legends Smoove & Turrell headlining with their unmistakable Northern Funk sound.

A hefty street food line up is also on the cards with the likes of local legends Fat Hippo, new chick on the block Fowl Play (as seen at Hadrian’s Tipi), La Petite Crêperie, winner of Newcastle’s Small Business of the Year and a few more new faces. Not forgetting their extensive craft beer and cocktail menus, the Sessions will also feature a pop up gin bar and of course a chance to be one of the first to try their bespoke in-house Tank Beer system which they will be pioneering in Sunderland.

The Sessions will run from 6pm-1am Friday evening, returning from midday-1am Saturday. Keeping things a family affair, kids are welcome to join in the fun ’til 8pm and well behaved dogs will be permitted downstairs.

February will also see the launch of their monthly ‘Sunday Club’, showcasing the talents of Michael Johnson, the executive chef, born and raised in Sunderland. You’ll be able to book your table to enjoy an array of succulent produce stacked up on sharing boards. With a combination of over 30 years in the food industry, the culinary team at Bonded Warehouse are very passionate about good food and have spent a lot of time over the last year travelling around the country to develop their menus. They also have a selection of small plates planned to compliment the drinks menu available daily in the Tap House which will be open Wednesday - Sunday.

In one way or another, Bonded Warehouse is looking to become part of your weekly ritual.
