Poetic License Bar is a bar and restaurant situated within The Roker Hotel. We have a diverse food and drink menu ranging from small plates to signature dishes with a bit of everything in between. We’re proud to have some of the best coastal views in Sunderland and have two seafront beer gardens for you to enjoy!

DAYTIME MENU
Vegetable skewers (VE) – Mini chargrilled mixed vegetable skewers with a sweet chilli dip
Arancini balls (V) – Saffron infused crispy rice balls on a bed of rich tomato sauce
Halloumi sticks (V) – Deep fried breaded halloumi sticks with tomato salsa
Potato wedges (V) (Can be VE) – Chunky potato wedges served with slow roasted garlic and paprika mayo
Roker bon bons – Boneless shredded chicken balls coated in breadcrumbs, served with a slow roasted garlic and paprika mayonnaise
Loaded fries – Skinny fries topped with melted cheese, crispy bacon bits and spicy jalapeños
Meatballs – Braised pork meatballs served in a rich tomato sauce
Salt & pepper squid – Deep fried panko squid with lemon aioli
DRINKS
Draught pint – Choose from Fosters, Coors Light or Strongbow
Glass of wine – A 175ml glass of either white, red or rose wine
Large soft drink – Choose from lemonade, Pepsi Max or Diet Pepsi
EVENING MENU
STARTERS
Chef’s soup of the day (V) – Homemade soup with fresh crusty bread and salted butter. Please ask your server for today’s choice
Bang bang cauliflower (V) – Spicy battered cauliflower chunks with a chilli mayo
Chicken wings – Crispy fried and dressed chicken wings served with a Louisiana hot sauce
Halloumi sticks – Deep fried breaded halloumi sticks with tomato salsa
MAINS
Classic lasagne – Beef lasagne served with garlic bread and house salad
Garlic chicken schnitzel – Breaded tenderised chicken breast drizzled in garlic butter, served with a rocket and parmesan salad accompanied by skinny fries
Coconut vegetable Thai curry (VE) – Traditional Thai style coconut-based curry with basmati rice, naan bread
and lime wedges
Steak frites – 6oz steak served pink or well done, with dressed leaves, house butter and fries (+£5.00)
DESSERTS
Classic Italian tiramisu – Espresso and Amaretto dipped sponge fingers, covered with whipped mascarpone and dusted with cocoa
Chocolate brownie (V) – Chocolate brownie served with chocolate sauce and ice cream
Sticky toffee pudding (V) – Treacle and date sponge served with a rich toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream
Poached pears (V) (VE on request) – Hand cut pears in a white wine syrup with vanilla ice cream
